Session alerts#
- Approvals and questions: when an agent needs approval or asks a question.
- Task complete: when a turn lasting more than 30 seconds finishes.
- Waiting reminder: when a prompt sits unanswered for 2 minutes.
- Runaway process: after sustained high CPU, memory, or disk writes.
- Subagent complete: when an individual subagent finishes.
Usage alerts#
Approaching-limit, limit-reached, pace-warning, limit-reset, account-handoff, and Codex reset-reminder controls cover the usage windows each agent reports. The approaching-limit threshold is shared across those windows.
Budget alerts#
Daily token budgets warn at a chosen share of each enabled agent budget. Agents with supported daily cost history can also use daily, weekly, or monthly spend alerts. Forecast cost budgets can be scoped by project, branch, worktree, task, model, or agent, and can optionally pause new Direct Chat prompts at 100 percent.
Delivery, sounds, and quiet hours#
Settings then Notifications controls macOS banners, sound, and a test notification. Choose a default event sound pack, override it per agent, or import a folder of event-named AIFF, WAV, or CAF files. Quiet hours hold notifications during the hours you set.
